“Boughs Under Weight” by Diane Webster

Deep in the forest
the pine boughs bow
under the weight
of snowfall clinging
to evergreen needles
now capped in white
like rows and rows
of college graduates
dressed in caps and gowns
marching down the aisle
toward a future of seasons.
