“Grammar of Needles” by Veronica Sorgi

To cease the downpour of salt
into open places, one must
first be well-versed
in the language
of sewing.
Let the worn needle float
in a warm bath, unspool
the spun prism,
feel the silk-soft skin
of a mended garment.
Bite into the fruits
of your labor
as if tasting sweetness
for the first time.
