“Anatomy of self-broth” by Debarati Saha

I added my neck backbones.
Torn serpent tendons.

Bay leaf, pepper, heat the olive oil.
      Gaslighting the skin.

Pouring hot water,
Chopping herbs,
      Like narcissist brains.

Peeled wobbly layers of onion, garlic,
Ginger, carrot, potato and beans.
A quick stir, a little salt,
Sizzling with fresh, healing ginger and clove.

Garnished with butter on the scar.

Smell of cooked grief,
fills the skull casserole on the table
       Attired with coriander.
