“Boots Cat” by Tricia Lloyd Waller

Twenty four hours
since they put you to sleep.

Since I signed the form
to end your life.

Forgive me
Please!

I did it for the best.
For you were not my beautiful Boots Cat.

My glorious big bummed tabby cat.
Not anymore!

I wanted to end
your pain.

You had
no ‘life’ left.

You just sat
in sinks,

Got wet
and sat in sinks

and tried
to sleep

and smelled
so bad!

and jumped
and slid sadly down cupboards

and screamed
your legs bowing out,

your bones sticking out
showing.

Oh Boots
I loved you – in my own way!
